Train to Chiang Mai
September 28, 2007 -- We took the overnight train to Chiang Mai,
Thailand, about 432 miles from Bangkok, to visit the Baseels--a fellow
Olmsted Family. They were fantastic hosts and tour guides.
Thanks! The ride took around 14 hours.

It's a little fuzzy, but I'll blame it on the horrendous fumes that took at least 5 years from our life expectancy. :) |

We had four berths for the 7 of us. |

Gotta love it when they bring your juice in a dirty bucket...that's always a good sign |

Breakfast |

This had to be the single greasiest meal I have ever seen. I was the only one who didn't partake. We did really enjoy the "Hello Kitty" dishes set it was served on. (not really, but that's what it looked like). The hot chocolate was just cocoa in a cup--we added lots of sugar and creamer, oh...and had to add our own hot water provided in a thermos that I'm sure was super sanitized. :) |
